Huskie Service Scholars

Huskie Service Scholars (HSS) is a service-learning program in which eligible freshmen and first-semester transfer students make a difference on campus and in the surrounding community through weekly service activities. Students will be assigned a supportive peer network for a particular campus partner. Students will meet during monthly cohort meetings geared towards professional development, service reflection, and resources available on campus.
Only students who are new to NIU are eligible for this program (current NIU students will not be considered). Priority deadline is July 15.

  5. I understand that the Huskie Service Scholars is an academic-year-long program. I understand that as a part of the Huskie Service Scholarship I will: complete a minimum of 100 on-site service hours; commit 3-4 service hours per week; attend biweekly cohort meetings; stay enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) for both semesters; maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher; receive a $1,200 tuition waiver (half distributed equallly for fall and spring semesters) upon successful completion of the program.
