Jere Tulk

Jere Tulk was a formidable force in the world of dance. Her career spanned more than 50 years as a performer, choreographer, and dance educator. She was a ballerina, a renowned modern dancer, and even performed with the Ringling Brothers circus riding elephants and performing on the trapeze. In fact her final performance at the age of 70 was on the trapeze in Dallas, Texas.

Jere’s Choreography displayed wry wit and a laser-like humor enjoyed by all. She joined the faculty of Northern Illinois University dance program in 1967 where she helped to establish the program as a national dance powerhouse. Hundreds of her students have gone on to pursue careers in dance, receiving international acclaim
