Thomas J Dee, NIU 1985 B.S. – Accountancy, and Mary Jane (Daneck) Dee, NIU 1985 B.S. – Computer Science, established the “Dee Community Impact Through Education (CitE) Endowed Scholarship” in 2014. Thomas and Mary Jane were both raised in middle class families from the greater Chicago area. As first-generation four-year college students from their respective families, they met at NIU and have led fulfilled lives. While attending NIU, Tom worked three years for Student Housing (including two years as a Resident Assistant), was a member of Beta Alpha Psi and the Student Accounting Society, and participated heavily in intramural athletics. Mary Jane, an honors student, was a cheerleader and freshman cheerleading coach who also worked for Student Housing as a Resident Assistant, and completed her undergraduate degree in less than four school years. Tom earned his master’s degree in management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and is a Certified Public Accountant.
