Mrs. Patricia Smith

This fund has been established by Patricia Smith to honor the life and memory of her husband, Dr. Robert M. Smith. During Robert’s impressive career, he was a professor emeritus of adult education at NIU. He also served as adult education consultant to Nigeria, Liberia and Lesotho, and taught for 21 years at Northern Illinois University. Following her husband’s death, Patricia worked diligently to continue his scholarly work through financial support of the scholarship of his graduate students. For her deep commitment, in 2004, she was given a Philanthropy Award by the College of Education at NIU.
