
Raymond Haas and Harriet Cords Harrington
Harriet Cords completed a two year course at Northern Illinois Teacher’s College. She taught in Malta and married Robert Harrington. Her teaching career in Malta included fifteen years. During the years when she was not teaching, she served on the school board. In 1968, her husband passed away and she married Raymond Haas. She moved to Wheaton and taught in the Wheaton schools until retirement. Raymond Haas attended NIU for two years. He became treasurer of Keystone Analene Chemical Company, served two years in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He worked as chemist for Service Master Company and later became president. He then was elected DuPage County Commissioner. Ray established the Haas Center for Business Research and Economic Development.
