
Richard Born
Richard Born has taught courses in a variety of capacities at the Northern Illinois University College of Business for more than 40 years, beginning in the summer of 1972 when he was an instructor in what was then the Department of Business Systems and Analysis (BSA), now OM&IS. He also served as an instructor in the early to mid-1980s, teaching introductory information systems and business statistics courses. After earning a Ph.D. in computer science from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1988, he was hired as an assistant professor in BSA and was promoted to associate professor in 1994. Born has taught many different courses in OM&IS from 1994 to the present.The courses that he has especially enjoyed over the years, and which relate to his research, include those dealing with business process simulation modeling and business applications of geographic information systems (GIS). In addition, he also taught information systems in both the Evening M.B.A. program and the Executive M.B.A. program for more than 15 years.
