
Robert F. Wheeler and the Wheeler family
This fund was established to honor the members of the Wheeler family who have supported education through loyalty, dedication, and service. Margariete Montague Wheeler was a professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at NIU from 1973-1988. She was an active member of the mathematics education faculty, and devoted herself to the preparation of teacher candidates. Marjorie Furlong Wheeler was a Spanish and Art teacher at several high schools in western Illinois. She was particularly involved in acquainting her students with the fiber arts. She received a master’s degree in Spanish from NIU. Robert F. Wheeler, once the Associate Provost at NIU, was a professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences beginning in 1972. He received both the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award and a Presidential Teaching Professorship.
