Robin May-Davis and Scott P. Davis
Born February 1974 in Rockford, IL, Sara Jeanette “Jet” May was the eldest of five children to Judy (Bonnell) and John May. Sara was bright and always had a good sense of humor, especially when she “came out of her shell.” While growing up, she was close with family and had many great friends. She attended Harlem High School, and upon graduation, lived briefly in Southern California. After community college, Sara transferred to NIU with a special interest in anthropology and archeology. In 2000, Sara participated in the NIU Archeological Field School in Sicily headed by NIU Professor Michael Kolb. This was her first experience abroad and one of her best undergraduate memories. Sadly, in 2003, shortly after graduating from NIU, Sara died unexpectedly at age 29 due to a pulmonary embolism. Sara greatly enjoyed her time at the Archeological Field School in Sicily, and it is the intention of the Donors that establishing this scholarship will allow others to have experiences like hers.
