Sandra Siakel

In memory of Van Sells’ dedication and service to the field of communication. She lectured to NIU’s journalism classes in the 1980s, was nominated for NIU Illinois Journalist of the Year Award, and was one of the first female editors at an Illinois daily newspaper. Van Sells was also a radio broadcaster and was the first woman to hold an office in the Illinois News Broadcasters Association. Sandra Siakel is Vanesse (Van) Sells’ daughter.
